Tools to Liveby Scissors - 9" - Black

They're sharp, they're cute, they're light, and they're attractive. But they're just not sturdy. In fact, sometimes the handles cross past each other on the close rather than butt and stop, meaning the blades cross each other at the tip. It's not often, but it's like nails on the chalkboard. They're not bad. Just know what you're getting. They're dainty.

As I dislike using the standard tabletop paper cutters favored by paper crafters-- either the slice kind or the guillotine versions-- these scissors are my perfect alternative for achieving straighter lines!! They're sharp, easy to wield, and weighted perfectly for my small hands.

I purchased these because of course they're beautiful to look at (like all Tools to Liveby products), but primarily due to the length of the blades-- they're longer than the usual craft scissors. I use a Plotter M5 binder, it's quite tiny, and I often fill it with my own speciality papers that I cut to size. Even though I only need to cut down a sheet to about 4.3" high, it can still be challenging, with all my other scissors, to make only *one* single cut. So being able to get a pretty precise edge in one simple, seamless motion? Relief! Bye-bye to days of starting and stopping and restarting my cut, hoping I don't make a wonky, crooked line. Not saying these will magically enable you to cut perfectly straight, but your chances are certainly greatly improved! I'm so pleased Yoseka offers these 9" beauties.

These are the lightest slickest scissors I’ve used.

Extremely sharp blades which are ridiculously low weight and nicely balanced. I liked the idea of the circular finger holes which allow for greater control when cutting.

Teflon coated; the only exposed steel is about 1mm width which runs down each cutting edge. The very tips seem to be exposed steel also - it’s worth mentioning that the tips are very slightly rounded too.

The main reason I bought these is because I do a lot gift wrapping and wanted to make the whole thing more efficient (it easily allows you to slide across a whole width of wrapping paper in less than a couple of cuts). Also what’s not to love about the shape and ergonomics? I was a bit bored of my orange handled scissors too tbh.

The “pizza slice” cardboard packing is awesome but needs some care when opening as it’s glued shut.
