I am going to preface this with a warning. I am primarily a fountain pen user so I am clearly biased. I was attracted to the pen because of the design. It looks modern and sleek. The plastic feels of good quality and the sometime contraversial triangle grip is the best for my style of grip. The twist action to deploy the pen tip is solid. The clip feels like it is spring loaded but it has a slight cheapness to it, like it's going to break if it accidentally catches on something. It clips to a jean pocket just fine but because of that slight cheapness feeling, I don't do that. The pen does not feel slippery at all thanks to the textured plastic. The Lamy logo is big but not obvious due the keeping it a shiny black opposite side of the clip. You don't see it when you are writing with it unless you purposely turn the clip inward, at which point the clip feels uncomfortable on the web of my hand. The top end of the barrel flares inward and acts as a natural place to grab it out of a pocket or pen case/slip.
The Lamy M16 refill is my only issue with the pen. I do not like it at all and it's the reason I took 2 stars off. I recently found out that Mitsubishi makes an M17 JetStream refill and it costs just as much as the pen. Is it worth making this pen cost twice as much? I am not sure since I don't have an M17 to try. The M16 ink feels like any old Parker style generic refill ink you can find in bulk in a online store that evokes thoughts of a South American forest. I like my black inks to be as black as Darth Vaders armor, not some grey oily gunk found at the bottom of an empty oil tanker trying to pass itself off as ink.
